The 'Pet Therapy' born in 1953 in America, by the psychiatrist Boris Levinson. While working with an autistic child, he realized that his dog gave him the opportunity to project their own inner feelings, was an occasion for emotional exchange, and made the game more enjoyable sessions.

The presence of the dog to the psychiatrist permitted to communicate with the patient so that in 1961 coined the term "Pet Therapy.
