concerned the expert report done after the Erika disaster. This report shows that the Erika has received the "green light" to proceed to sea while it was in a state to take the ship.
THE EXPERTS 'REPORT
RINA certified the Erika's seaworthiness (the seaworthiness):
"International Load Line Certificate: the Erika's certificate Was dated December 16, 1998 and Was valid until August 31, 2003;
Safety Construction Certificate: the Erika's certificate dated December 16 Was, Was in 1998 and valid until August 31, 2003;
International Pollution Prevention Certificate: the Erika’s certificate was dated December 16, 1998 and was valid until August 31, 2003;
Safety Equipment Certificate: the Erika’s certificate was dated December 16, 1998 and was valid until August 14, 2000;
Radio Certificate: the Erika’s certificate was dated November 23, 1999 and was valid until March 31, 2000."
ON DECEMBER 19, 1999 THE ERIKA BROKE UP OFF THE COAST OF BRITTANY.
The experts report states "the facts described hereabove show at the time of the five-year special survey, RINA absolutely did not fulfill the duties impose on it by its own rules..."
WHY WOULD THE RINA INSPECTORS DELIVER THE PRECIOUS CERTIFICATES?
